This group is not a replacement for therapy and is not designed for those in crisis
You remain responsible throughout your participation in the group to take good care of yourself and to employ the appropriate measures to protect your health and well-being
What will the group sessions cover?
Across the four sessions we’ll explore a range of themes through the lens of Internal Family Systems (IFS), using gentle guided exercises and discussion.
Topics may include:
Common “tricky” parts — such as inner critics, anxious or overwhelmed parts, procrastinators, perfectionists, and addictive patterns — and understanding the protective roles they play
Accessing more Self-energy — the natural qualities of calm, compassion, courage, creativity, clarity and wisdom that exist within everyone
Unburdening extreme roles — helping protective parts soften so they no longer need to work so hard
Legacy gifts and burdens — recognising what we carry from our culture, environments and ancestors, and gently healing what no longer serves us
The sessions are experiential and practical. We will use The Internal Family Systems Workbook by Dr Richard Schwartz during the group, so participants are asked to have their own copy.
How can the sessions help?
As you become more familiar with your inner system, you’ll hopefully start to experience shifts such as:
greater self-understanding and self-compassion
less inner conflict between different parts
more confidence in decisions and boundaries
reduced rumination, anxiety or self-doubt
the courage to move closer to meaningful goals or changes
Everyone’s process will be different, but the intended purpose of the group is simple:
to help you know your inner world more deeply, so you can live with greater freedom, steadiness and authenticity.
Is this group right for you?
This group is most likely to suit people who:
are curious about Internal Family Systems (IFS) and want to experience the model in practice
are already somewhat reflective and interested in personal growth
want a small, thoughtful space for inner work rather than a large programme or course
are open to listening inward and exploring their inner world with curiosity
value respectful, confidential group spaces
You do not need prior experience with IFS.
This group is not intended to provide:
therapy or crisis support
structured teaching or training
Your Group Facilitator, Madeline Gibson
Level 3 IFS Practitioner & Coach
I am so excited to launch this new, small group coaching offering.
I hope these groups will be appealing to those who want to build a consistent IFS practice, alongside others, in a space that you look forward to attending regularly.
The key to the groups is connection. You’ll discover the incredible power of doing IFS work in safe and supportive company, as you deepen your inner (and most likely, outer) relationships.
With significant experience as a group facilitator as well as participant in IFS groups and retreats, I’m confident that you’ll enjoy this unique offering.
This is a time for healing and flourishing as a collective, as well as on an individual level.
It will be great to welcome you to the groups later this month.
If you are unsure whether the groups are suitable for you, feel free to drop me a message: connect@the-ifs-coach.com

What a Typical Session Looks Like
Each 60-minute session includes:
short introduction to the theme for the week
a guided IFS exercise or reflection
time for optional sharing and witnessing
space for questions and integration
You will be invited to share and participate in each session, as far as you are willing and able to
The intention is to create a gentle, respectful container where each person can explore their inner worlds at the pace their system allows.
